We are pleased to announce that our 12th MetroDemic game course is now live in Saint Paul, Minnesota! The game gives Twin Cities locals a fun way to explore downtown and is a great corporate team building option for companies.
The course is centered around the Landmark Center on the western edge of downtown Saint Paul and players will be exploring the areas around Rice Park, the Ordway Center, the RiverCentre, Roy Wilkins Auditorium, EcoLab, the library, and the County Courthouse.
The Twin Cities have a personal connection for Kris and Christine Neese, MetroDemic’s founders. After college, the couple couldn’t agree on which US city they wanted to make their start, so they picked a number between 1 and 50 and agreed to move that state. That number was 23, making that state Minnesota! As a tech recruiter in the dotcom era, Kris had the opportunity to visit downtown Saint Paul at least once a week.
Aside from the personal roots, Saint Paul was an easy to choose as a site for the game. “This is a city where I that I would love to explore on the weekend with my kids”, said Kris Neese, MetroDemic’s co-founder. “The architecture is beautiful, there is art everywhere, it feels very safe during the day, the history as a Mississippi River town is fascinating, and it is just a place you want to be!”
From a gaming perspective, the city is also laid out in a wonderful format. Short city blocks, walkability, no steep hills, and hidden treasures around every corner. People are going to have a great time seeing all everything packed into this 3-block area.
In MetroDemic, teams of 2-4 people have 90 minutes to save downtown Saint Paul from a deadly epidemic. A group of highly incompetent scientists deliver “outbreak” locations to your cell phone that your team must prove they can find. Once an outbreak is located, we’re going to throw a themed set of trivia your way to test you on diverse topics like local beer heroes, Peanuts characters, math equations, the Mississippi river, and 70’s song lyrics.
Can your team take over the top spot on our leaderboard???
